About Me

About Denise

I moved to Suffolk 5 years ago and you can read about me below. If you or a friend would like a counselling session or assessment on Skype or Whatsapp – please contact me (fiennesd) or email me.

I work as a Psychodynamic Counsellor/Psychotherapist within the guidelines of  the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, with integrity, regular personal development and supervision.  I was also a senior counsellor at ChildLine in the UK. I am currently helping parents of teenagers with mental health issues in Suffolk and running my Practice of over 30 years.   I am studying CBT and advising people on coping in Covid 19.

I trained originally in couples counselling, completing over 500 hours with Relate.  I worked in one of their Crisis Counselling Clinics and have hundreds of hours working with clients behind me. I have worked for many years with young professionals, individuals and couples on a wide variety of problems including depression, anxiety, relationship issues and stress. I am also an experienced consultant in the Arts and Humanities and have worked with many Boards and high level individuals, often in a coaching role.

I worked with my PAT dog (Pet As Therapy) called Monty in hospices and centres for troubled adolescents until he died. Since then I have worked on pet loss and with rescue greyhounds who often need rehabilitation and help with life after racing. I also work with owners with tips and hints on how to deal with difficult dogs – or is it difficult owners?

With the charity ChildLine I worked within a controlled environment answering calls from troubled children on many different issues.   I work  OnLine via Skype, Whatsapp and email  so that I can interact more readily with people all over the world.

I have worked as a charity consultant all over the UK and I have survived both pet loss and different forms of bereavement.    I was featured on the BBC’s Mollie Green programme on Animals.

Testimonials – What Anna, Sally and Jo had to say:

“Just to say THANKS, Denise, I am so much calmer and I know I will get through this painful experience”.   Anna

“I had a lot of guilt over the death of my pet.  Thank you for your help and support – you have helped me so much, in ways I could not have imagined which will stay with me for life.”    Sally

“I knew you were there every step of the way. You were always available every day with words of wisdom and comfort in your book, and this made a huge difference to coping with the loss of my cat”.   Jo

Wishing you all well in these troubled times.  I know how much comfort and joy your pets bring you!

Mylovely  greyhound Phoebe

With my warmest wishes
